History
Germidour is one of the best-known French softneck garlic (Allium sativum) varieties, created in the second half of the 20th century at selection centers in southwestern France. It was developed to provide early, productive, large-bulb garlic for commercial production with excellent storage capacity. From France, it quickly spread to the United Kingdom, Spain, and later to Central Europe and the Baltic States, becoming one of the most widely grown softneck varieties on commercial farms.
Today, Germidour is considered one of the most stable and reliable early European varieties, especially popular in gardening stores and professional production.
