History

Prometej is a modern Ukrainian winter hardneck garlic variety, developed in the early 21st century in Ukrainian breeding centers, working with local northern regional populations. The name “Prometej” symbolizes strength, resilience, and vitality, which well characterizes the variety’s features. After successful trials, it quickly gained popularity in Central and Eastern Ukraine, where farmers appreciated its uniform bulb size and good storability. Later, the variety also spread to Poland, the Baltics, and other regions with similar climates.

Today, Prometej is considered one of the most promising modern Ukrainian breeding varieties, especially suitable for both large farms and organic cultivation.
