Winter garlic "GARPEK"

Allium sativum var ophioscorodon

Garpek is a mid-early, high-yielding hardneck garlic variety that stands out with large, symmetrical bulbs and an intense, spicy flavor. The variety is suitable for both fresh consumption and thermal processing, as it retains its aroma and maintains a dense structure. Garpek is popular among gardeners due to its excellent winter hardiness and ability to provide stable yields even in changing climatic conditions.

This variety is especially popular in Central and Eastern Europe, where it is valued for its durability, strong flavor, and good storability.

History

The Garpek garlic variety originated in the Central European region, most likely through selection work in Poland or Hungary, where hardneck garlics with a strong aroma have historically been in high demand. The variety was created by selecting resilient local genotypes with the aim of achieving large bulbs and good winter hardiness.
After its introduction to the market, Garpek quickly gained popularity in commercial farms in Sweden, Poland, the Baltic States, and Ukraine, where it provides stable yields even in challenging climatic conditions.
