Winter garlic "HUMPGRID TURBAN"
Allium sativum var sativum ssp artichoke subvar turban
Humpgrid Turban is a Turban group hardneck garlic variety, distinguished by its early harvest time and decorative, mottled white-violet skin color. This variety has a strong, sharp taste and pronounced aroma, making it ideally suited for dishes where a pronounced garlic note is needed.
History
“Humpgrid Turban” belongs to the ancient Turban (Agrestic) garlic group, which originates from China and Southeast Asia. These garlics have been spreading along the Silk Road for centuries, reaching Central Asia and later Europe. The name Turban comes from the fact that the bulb's shape resembles a turban. “Humpgrid Turban” is a modern selection line that preserves the ancient Asian Turban genotypes, and in recent decades has become popular in Europe and northern climates due to its earliness and decorative violet coloring.
