Winter garlic "THERMIDROME"
Allium sativum var sativum ssp artichoke
Thermidrome is one of the best-known and most widely grown softneck garlic varieties in Europe. It is famous for its early ripening, very uniform, large heads and excellent yield. The variety produces beautiful, white or slightly creamy heads with 12–20 firm and aromatic cloves.
The taste of Thermidrome is mild to medium spicy, harmonious and universal — perfectly suited for everyday cooking as well as professional food production (drying, granules, powder).
It is a reliable, cold-resistant variety, perfectly suited for the Baltic climate, offering one of the earliest harvests among softneck varieties.
History
Thermidrome was developed in France as an agronomist breeding project in the second half of the 20th century to create a softneck garlic variety that matures earlier than traditional European lines. Thanks to its earliness, high yield, and uniform heads, Thermidrome quickly became popular in professional farms throughout Europe — especially in France, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Baltics, and Germany.
Today, it is one of the leading commercial softneck varieties and is often used as base material for further breeding work.
